Not strictly a tool per say but it is most essential to get started in 3d printing it being a patient partner followed by a decent bank account balance, but darling if I buy this add on my prints will be better!!!
Great video, looking forward to more.

I recently got an Ender 3 v2 and your channel has been huge.

The more I learn, the more there is to learn.

Good timing on this video. I have a neighbor who is in the 5th grade. She has an Ender 3 Pro and has attempted to print the cat and dog that comes with, but nothing else. I plan to spend time to get her up to speed. What would really help is a series of videos, with a syllabus, to get new printers started. You have several great videos, maybe put together a syllabus and have an Edge of Tech certification when completed? Keep up the great work, you are appreciated

One thing that know is necessary beyond your first 10-20 prints: a can of compressed air. A snip of filament, some bad stringing, all that dust that gathers on the wheels...and you need a can of compressed air just to blow off your Frankenstein.

Also, this is something I ran across randomly: use compressed air to take items off the build plate! What releases a print? Cooling down the build plate a little, and/or a little leverage with the spatula. If you have a print that's got a decently flat bottom surface (i.e. against the build plate), the cold air that comes out of the can AND the pressure of the air is often enough to lift it up better than just brute force lifting it with the spatula.

Another great vid Jim 👍 ive seen a lot in various platform chat groups (Facebook, discord etc), that a lot of the plug n play generation, simply don't have the patience to, built a printer, to diagnose an issue, to research an issue, or to fix an issue etc etc. Its sad really, as it usually only takes 5-10min to diagnose an issue, research the issue and then to fix the issue. Some people even resort to selling the printer, rather to try and fix the issue. It's sad, that these people don't have the patience. But then again, when they go to sell their near perfect printer, for next to nothing, us people with plenty of patience, can pick up a bargain. More fool them 🤦‍♂️🤣

I actually got a nozzle cleaning kit on Amazon for $8 that same with a bunch of acupuncture needles and 2 types of nice tweezers. All in a plastic test tube for storage.

Another tool that I've found useful is a dental pick used in teeth cleaning. It comes in handy when a brush can't clean all the remaining plastic around the nozzle.

Great video! I use a glass bed (non tempered - never had an issue), Rave hairspray, PLA+ from Micro Center

Good walkthrough and useful for beginners. One side note 99% IPA is really hard to get right now in some areas and 70% IPA is much easier/cheaper to find. It's getting better but thought I'd mention it.

Awesome idea for a video! Great information for people starting out (and also people looking to upgrade their tool set)!

M3 threaded inserts to fit into printed holes. A soldering iron is perfect to heat them up to push into PLA. I've used these a lot for screen housings.

Another useful item is the deburring tool found in machine shops. I use it to trim the edges of the final product.

Thanks for those advices. I am new in the 3d printing. I got my ender3 v2, in January but I am just starting to use it as I I've just finished to build it a confortable place in my garage. It was to noisy in my office. Well I should have watched this video first, the most brilliant advice you do in this video is a about the empty table you have to fill with patience. I started my first printing with PETG from eryone. It was such a pain to get something else than a piece of melted plastic with no particular form. I should have start with PLA. Tools I am going to get is a nozzle cleaner, and the isopropyl alcohol spray.
Thanks for your good quality video not too long, clear, and fun and your American English is very understandable for the French guy that I am.

Thanks Jim, I spent some MORE money on this self-licking ice cream hobby. Great video as usual!

Excellent video for starters. I understand having quality tools, but sometimes the price of the printer may leave someone short on funds and providing these examples allows anyone interested an opportunity to get their feet wet. Good Job!

Great video Jim. I would also recommend a deburring tool. I got one in a Alien 3d UFO box once and it is one of my go to print cleanup tools!

Worthwhile mentioning that you should get callipers that measure to 0.01mm resolution. The first set I bought was only 0.1mm resolution which isn't enough to calibrate the printer.
