South Australia Premier Peter Malinauskas says there can be “no doubt” the AUKUS opportunity of building nuclear submarines in the state represents the “greatest opportunity”.

“Up to 5,500 people employed directly, right here in Osborne, to build the most complex machines that have ever been built in human history," Mr Malinauskas said during a press conference on Monday.

“The size and the scale of this enterprise cannot possibly be overstated.

“South Australia is not just excited about that task, we are already gearing up for it.”

I have said it before that everything Labor touches turns to shit and this will be exactly the same and end up costing five times more than if the boats had been built overseas.

This is how labor float. Big on announcements little on achievements. They're not cutting steel next week to see one for 17 years ?

This premier really needs to get a grip! Quite obviously, he has zero idea as to the length of time it takes to acquire a competent workforce, training, manufacture of tooling, and support equipment, and that's before the first steel sheet is welded. Has he talked to BAE Systems yet?
