The Ford Aurora was a concept car that was built in 1965, featuring a transparent-to-opaque windshield and an intercom system connecting the driver's "command post" to the rear "romper room" where children could sit. This revolutionary car also had a swiveling front passenger seat and a steering bar instead of a steering wheel. In this video, we'll take a closer look at the fascinating features of the Ford Aurora and explore the impact it had on the automotive industry.

What a beautiful car!!! Growing up in the 60's, all of us kids would just pile into my Uncle Benny's baby blue station wagon.... he was the designated driver for the children because, as my Aunt Gloria so eloquently put it: "he lost most of his hearing in the war anyway"!.... :) 💕💖💓💕

I used to go to the international car shows and looked forward to seeing concept cars like this. Most stuff now is next year’s bean counter products built with computer chips and driver distracting touch screens.

I love this car so much!! I would drive the heck out of it!! I'd like to build it today and update all the tech with modern stuff like GPS and other modern amenities. All the lights would be updated with LED's and it would be the coolest station wagon the world has ever known.

The way those seats are designed there is no thought of safety same goes for the handlebar-looking steering wheel. Those of us that grew up in those days didn't know what a seatbelt was but we knew what an ashtray was.

I would love to own and drive that car. A groovy living room on wheels with a place to put the little kids or grumpy teens? Heck, yeah.

I always wondered what people did with their legs in this thing.

there was a mercury colony park, outfitted with this kind of sectioned-off cushion arrangement. lots of clever toggle switches and power glass partition. dean and stella with victor buono. same color leather or vinyl. stella escapes into a rainstorm, and swims back inside. like a split level apartment, with two areas. the interior shots could have been compiled with this thing.

can you imagine getting speared by that car... That is a cool concept, but in Texas...it would become our BBQ pit.
