Introducing our newest fully hollow thinline archtop, the Excel SS Soho. Developed alongside NYC jazz legend Mark Whitfield the Soho is a jazz-inspired take on our SS model, featuring a single floating mini humbucker and remarkable playability.

Guitar - Mark Whitfield
Bass - Russell Hall
Drums - Kush Abadey

Filmed at The Django in New York City

Designed in collaboration with New York City jazz icon Mark Whitfield, the Excel SS Soho embodies both the timeless tone and teeming energy of the city that never sleeps. Featuring a fully hollow body and single Kent Armstrong "Jazzy Joe" floating mini-humbucker, the SS Soho offers warm, round low-end as well as an articulate mid-range perfect for dynamic lead-playing—and a slim C-shape neck and 16" fingerboard radius make faster lines effortless. Premium components such as Grover Imperial tuners, Jescar fretwire, and a Stairstep tailpiece bring exceptional feel and timeless vibe. A laminated spruce top featuring a Dark Cherry Burst finish pays homage to Whitfield's all-time favorite jazz boxes while striking the balance between traditional and modern.

I’ve admired Mark’s playing since I bought his debut album The Marksman back around 1990. I was all about Steve Vai, SRV and Joe Satriani
back then. I was blown away by his playing. Since then he has matured deeper into his own distinct style, a little Wes, a little Benson, plenty of soul and an awful lot of Mark Whitfield. This new guitar looks great - an instrument built for jazz and neo-soul, but easily accessible. Love it.

Mark is a national treasure. I've never heard a solo or an instrumental section that he played that didn't sound soulful & inspired!
A beautiful guitar, as well!
Bravo, D'Angelico!

Mark Whitfield is an incredibly talented musical artist and I've enjoyed listening to his music for quite a while now. I do hope to see him perform live sometime soon. He is good! I'm glad that he's getting this kind of recognition. Fantastic!

it's funny how all the great guitarist can take your guitar and make it sound fantastic and then give it back to you and you're like what just happened? That's happened to me with my guitar teacher back in the day and basically all the master guys can do that they can make any guitar sound really great
