The theory of General Relativity is formulated in the language of differential geometry. And the theory is much more than abstract concepts, as it explains the dynamics of the Universe and gave rise to cosmology.

Great to see a textbook review on Riemannian geometry. Some other very similar and wonderful books mostly for self study are Paul Renteln's Manifolds and Tensors, Isham's Modern Differential geometry and Nakahara's Geometry. Top tiers to begin with for those who wish to master in the field.

Auslander and Mackenzie's "Introduction to Differential Manifolds" is also a very good introduction to differential topology for autodidacts, and doesn't require any prior differential geometric knowledge beyond vector calculus.

The very title of this video raises some serious "philosophical" questions: What is math? What does it mean to do math? What does it mean to learn math? My thinking is that it may well be heresy to believe we can "learn math" from conventional textbooks. We might in some sense learn the mechanistic language of math that way, and we might even learn how to apply it to a degree (but probably not to the degree where we can be said to be "doing math"--certainly not any kind of math that's interesting, creative, revolutionary, etc). I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the only proper road for the auto didactic person to learn math is the school of hard knocks. I mean, if a person has never spent hours upon hours banging his head against quadratic, cubic, and quartic equations, and then higher degrees, , trying to solve them on his own, does he really have any earthly business reading a book on Galois Theory?

I'm yet to see you endorse let alone entertain any AOPs(Art of problem solving books... Don't you think they're great for math beginners to learn a different way ?in a math Olympiad sort of way???

Do you have a favorite phyiscs book and if so could you review that? One more question do you have a favorite book that is published by springer? I get access to many of the springer books as part of my school

Do you have books on Cryptology theory ? I haven't read much reviews about books from that particular sub-branch of Mathematics

Hey! Do you recommend any other precalc books? Here where i live i can't get any of the ones mentioned cheaply(under 50-100 dollars). Do you think the pre-calc for dummies book with excercises included is a ok buy? Pls respond

I respect Topology but I am afraid of Differential Geometry.
