Demonstration of the Heathkit DX-60

I had a DX-60A, along with HR-10B receiver and HG-10 VFO. I bought the receiver new in the summer of 1971 and the DX-60B model was available then and a few months later bought a used DX-60A. so the plain DX-60 would have been before 1970 or so. I bought the receiver, while working for the summer, after I graduated high school. I recall being on my very first contact, real DX of about 20 miles, when my mother turned on the vacuum cleaner and wiped out the signal I was copying! 🙂

I could have used a vertical instead of a lightbulb as a dummy (that was hilarious)

Yes, turning all the knobs in the correct order can be confusing.
