Ty so much! This actually helped me. I was your type of kid who sat in a chair during COVID, doing no schoolwork, and I regret that, now going back to school. Being a gifted student, walking into 5th grade, not knowing how to do this, fractions, or any type of division is so sad, so I’ve been learning division, fractions, and this, so I can finally not struggle and be scared about failing math tests, or having to have special help from the teacher.

Doing this the standard way always confused me when re-grouping the sum at the top. That is when you move over to the tens place to multiply the second number in the bottom row. As you place new numbers above the others it can confuse what your doing so the box method is more reliable for keeping things in order.

Does it actually matter if you write the 2, 50 and 300 that way? Can't I do 300 then 50 then 2? Makes more sense to me to keep all numbers in order.
