Eduard Artemiev is known for his work with directors Nikita Mikhalkov and Andrei Tarkovsky. He wrote soundtracks for the films "Stalker", "The Mirror", "Solaris", "At home among strangers", "Zero Town", "Courier" and many others. In 1999 he was awarded the title of People's Artist of Russia, in 2022 he became the Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation.

The civil war has recently ended, the country is devastated and hungry, Russia needs bread. It can only be bought abroad with gold. The party committee from Siberia sends a valuable cargo to Moscow, which is entrusted to accompany a group of Chekists. However, a group of bandits rob the gold train and kill the escorts. But one of them remains alive - and becomes a victim of the suspicion of betrayal. Now he must return the gold to prove his innocence.
