The colors in the piano roll also corresponds with the midi channel. It lets you stack certain effects like slides without interfering with the rest of the notes. Very cool.

Small thing though: when you're recolouring a note, it changes the MIDi channel as well.

This happens with instruments like Kontakt. If you have two modules loaded, you trigger different ones by... recolouring the midi notes.
