Показать описание
Mary McLeod Bethune (1875-1955) was a pioneering educator and activist in the United States. Her legacy resonates with the Black Country’s Beverley Campbell.

Beverley was born in Jamaica in July 1956, arriving in the UK at the age of 15. She has always had a special interest in helping others and has worked tirelessly teaching adults and children throughout her career.

We are proud to link St James’s School at the Museum – originally cited in Dudley and rebuilt at the Museum – as the place where the first African Caribbean Saturday school in the Black Country started.
