The reason that Laith highlighted for why trade steering is good is actually incorrect. Trade steering doesn't help you compete with downstream merchants stealing trade value from your node. It doesn't even help you fight for trade upstream. Trade steering is powerful because it multiplies the trade you send downstream by a flat amount. It basically increases what a merchant does already. Trade steering multiplies trade for each node you send trade through.

I think Mamluks has some pretty decent ideas for trade if you are trying to play as a bigger nation like that +25 trade streering is really good. Oman is also a good shout since you can easily get into the Malacca trade node.

Mamluks have some good trade focused ideas too. 25% trade steering if i remember corectly. Very useful for diverting trade to where you need it, far from europeans :)

Unlesd you do a wc, caase in which trade steering is not useful anymore

Trade steering doesnt help reduce the amount of trade steered to a downstream node ( like from lubeck to english channel) AT ALL.

Hah fools. Nothing beats the economic power of ottomans with trade ideas and trade a trade company in India. They can expand well and snowball quick, they have the best great monuments of the game withing their reach, bam citadel and doge's palace being 2 of those who even give you trade buffs. Just take trade ideas control more than 50% of a trade company in mainland india and you're done bro. The money is way more than enough for you to max lvl every great monument in your lands. In 60 years you become economic hegemon
