About the competition:
New York City Department of Youth and Community Development’s Step It Up NYC showcases the power and influence of youth voice. Through social campaigns and dance performances of all genres, young people (ages 10–21) competed to raise awareness and express their opinion on various social issues. Virtual audition rounds launched back in February and during the Juneteenth finale, 10 teams performed #BLM-inspired choreography for a panel of judges.
