The Invisible Woman is a good example of the change in gender equality during 60s/70s/80s. When she was first created, she was affected by the idea of women in the 60s (the perfect housewife) and acted quite often as the damsel in distress due to the passive nature of her powers. The force field power (which is actually her primary power, because invisibility stems from force fields bending visiblie light) was added to make her an assertive character echoing the late 60s wave of feminism.

The writers were the ones who hold her back.

The amount of times live action or animated series have her pass out under the pressure is almost a reoccurring joke

Always found it funny, that they make one of the most gorgeous women in Marvel have the superpower of invisibility.

Sue being the strongest member of the F4 is a bit like Iceman being an Omega-lvl mutant. You wouldn’t think it, based on both their powers at face value and their portrayals in movies/TV, but once you start thinking about the complete applications of controlling force fields (obstructing someone’s windpipe, for instance) and ice (freezing your brain; transforming into pure water vapor), you realise these characters have God-tier powers

Little bit of trivia: The Fantastic Four are conceptually based around the four classical Greek elements (or in modern terms, states of matter):

Invisible Woman: Air/Gas
Human Torch: Fire/Plasma
Thing: Earth/Solid
Mister Fantastic: Water/Liquid

Arguably, the children embody the esoteric elements:

Valeria: Thought/Mind
Franklin: Aether/Transcendence

Not only are powers strong but shes also very smart. So she’s even a more competent hero w her abilities and her smarts. The writers just keep on underlaying and underutilizing her

One of the best characters in the game Marvel Ultimate Alliance. My respect for her went way high after that game and the comic where the F4 had to pursue normal work for a while. Good read.

She is one of my favorites in Marvel Ultimate Alliancr 2 I believe. What's neat is she is a starter character too. It is so fun seeing enemies fly from your force field (same vibe as Storm's gust) or crush them with a force field

Say what you want but if superheros didn't hold back in comic books, it would be a horror show for the villains

That's until she gets nosebleeds from putting up an impenetrable forcefield the hulk Is trying to get though

One of those abilities that she has that they least talk about but it's one of her most deadly. Is that she can actually control the shape of the forcefields she creates. Being able to complete their size and their shape is broken. Also she's able to create multiple constructs at the same time

She was definitely a beast I wish they did more with her in the cinematics

She holds back because she is pure hearted 😭

There needs to be a story where we can see her full power. There needs to be plot device that forces her to do so or a competition that makes her want to. Perhaps a rival on par with her would work.

She's made a planet invisible before and even extend her forcefield to cover an entire Planet and shield it from punches from an angry sentry. She also defeated magneto in a fight

I remember her going against a fully powered Johnny corrupted by some magical fire potion in the animated series, she nearly crushed and suffocated him in a force field when he was about to go supernova only *holding back* after he showed a semblance of his normal, she can also turn her mind invisible preventing telepaths from from probing her mind like she did when a dark phoenix possessed Jean Grey tried to make a move on Reed and they went off at each other, I think Reed interfered and neutralized Jean or something, but yes, she's really powerful..

She also has done things along the lines like make other peoples things invisible inside them, like nerve system, to make them blind or something. I don't exactly remember the how, what and when, but something along those lined
