Thank you. You are the only person I have seen to go into detail on this subject. I've seen others mention it before but never go into how it could be handled. Good information.

I want Rob as my hype man ... like just with me whenever I'm not epic enough for my taste.

Thank you for mentioning the blunt force method as a NO. I cringe anytime I see people claim this is the most humane method. There is so much wrong with that.

No matter the pet, having to put one down is tuff for those of us who care. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Credit for the use of the “Bassomatic” concept must be given to SNL and Dan Acroyd.

I've been using this method for years and it works great. I laughed at the quarantine tank comment as mine has become so overrun with orange neos that I now worry about using it for its intended purpose.

Great advice, Bentley. Have a crappy plastic quarantine tank with an equally crappy soft plastic plant in it! Have a little clove oil on standby. Rob was hilarious!

as a fish keeper and a fisherman I have dispatched hundreds, maybe thousands of fish in my life time. both fish ive caught for eating and for using as bait and fish that were pets that were suffering from something. also from way back when I bred angelfish and had to cull fry that were deformed.
its still funny to me that having bled out large catfish and cut up live shad and sunfish to use as bait never bothered me in the least, having to euthanize a pet fish still makes me sad.

I have a platy, it has made it to normal size, with some kind of spinal injury/MS/IDK. Swims in circles, but somehow gets food. I like to think the other platies take care of it (I know I'm weird). Sad! Nature would have sorted it long ago. I have the clove oil, but have never used it, with 100's of fish. I just can't do it....dang it, man!
