FUN FACT: link can actually get sunburned in this game which is why this game is so good there are still tiny details being discovered

I mean, totk heavily advertised sky islands prior to launch but I'm pretty sure that was a red herring. I don't think the developers, or any totk fans (myself included), are or were under any delusion that the sky islands are anything but lonely and empty and would not have been enough on their own. Id add that the additions to the overworld would not be enough on their own. The depths would not be enough on their own. But the 3 spill into each other and tie in thematically with the story, and drive the player between them. The game loop developers seem to be wanting to cultivate was one where you bounce between the 3 levels, constantly exploring the depths to get the overpowered fuse items and armor sets, but also constantly going to the sky islands to get sundelions and dazzlefruit and treasure maps which are useful in the depths, and while there using the light roots and the surface shrines to find the others and find new chasm openings, and and using things in all 3 levels to strategically take out monster forts, gloom hands, coliseums, froxes and gleeocks using ultrahand or fuses. The temples are found in all 3 locations. And honestly it is fun game loop, imo, and i get tired of it way slower than botw
