Disney+’s upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi could lay the foundations for The Mandalorian season 3. The Book of Boba Fett recently played such a role as well in its final three episodes by furthering Din Djarin's and Grogu’s storyline. Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place years earlier, but the series might provide world-building and lore integral to plot driving The Mandalorian.

Din Djarin’s current narrative surrounds not only his relationship with Grogu, but his place in Mandalorian history as the darksaber’s current owner. The darksaber, if won in combat, makes its wielder the Mand’alor–the ruler of all Mandalorians. This puts Mando in direct conflict with Bo-Katan Kryze, who once ruled Mandalore with the darksaber. Since losing both blade and planet, she wants the weapon and her throne back. In The Book of Boba Fett, the Armorer tells Mando that by claiming the throne even though the darksaber was given to her, and not won in combat, Bo-Katan cursed the planet: under her, Mandalore was destroyed by the Empire. Mando’s sect, The Children Of The Watch, only survived because they were sequestered on a moon of Mandalore called Concordia. The Armorer also reveals that Mand'alor Tarre Vizsla, creator of the darksaber, was both Mandalorian and Jedi.

remember when i saw leaks of the mandalorian and i was disapointed it wasnt gonna be boba now mando is my fav star wars series and one of my fav characters

Maybe the writers of Season 3 will take some time to further Boba Fett's story, like they used 2 of 7 episodes to further Din and Grogu's story in the Book of Boba Fett series. Fair is fair.

The Mandalorian keeps getting better, and plots thicken, tying Mando to Order 66 which is one of the saddest part (and biggest betrayal) in the Star Wars Franchise, wiping out the Jedi Order (almost) when the Jedi knights used to fight shoulders-to-shoulders with the clones. The fact that Grogu gives the Jedi Order a future, and how Grogu is bound to Mando, it gives me chills. That future is far far far better than the lame plot in Rey which seeks to justify that anyone can be a Jedi. While it passes the PC police, it diminishes how special the Skywalker bloodline and legacy has been, not to mention the great Yoda.

To Disney: When you make Season 3, please remember one thing above all else. It is not the force or some mystical prophecy or character reaching some spiritual enlightment that made the Madalorian good, it is the bond between Grogu and the Mandalorian as a type of father and son that makes it good. My suggestion is focus on a family aspect with them like having the Mandalorian teach Grogu how to fly a ship, shoot a blaster, or use mechanics. Focus on how the Mandalorian would teach a foundling on how to become the next Mandalorian. Obviously, Mando will stumble along the way, and Grogu is not exactly adept at some things, but having them learn from mistakes and overcoming other adversities together will prove more heart-warming and create a connection with the audience.
