From my understanding the 1st gen honda jet is kinda like the vision jet in terms of performance as well. Take a look at one of the Embraer Phenom 100s, it’s the only in it’s class(“very light jet”) to have a full lavatory, without the lav I believe you can replace it with another seat and have 6 full seats. It’s Single pilot rated so you could always stick a trustworthy passenger in the right seat. It’s got the g1000 setup with a separate AP, and some sort of keyboard like the cirrus, coupled to the MFD/PFD I presume. It’s MTOW is around 10, 000lbs. (It may even have a STC gross weight increase) Take off roll around 3, 400ft at MTOW and the landing roll should be about the same. The TAS is around 380kts or Mach 0.66(so a little bit on the slower side) however it’s max ceiling is FL410, and the range should be right at 1300NM. It’s got a pretty good time to climb at FL370 of 23mins. Burns about 70gal an hour at cruise. Holds around 400gal. Has 2 Prat and Whitney’s (PW600) producing 1, 700lbs of thrust each engine. You should be able to find some used ones built around 2009-10 for around 2millon, of course maintenance for the used jet has to be taken into consideration. Although I don’t think it has reversers so at least that’s one less system to pay upkeep on.😂 (could always look at the Embraer phenom 300, I think it’s a 9-10pax jet so it goes into the light business jet class, and of course is a bit more expensive.)

The seat configuration in the Cirrus Vision Jet is changeable. You can opt for 6 seats and add more cabin space if needed. Not to mention Cirrus interior makes Eclipse look like a rental car. I would put the safety of the Cirrus above the extra performance capabilities of the Eclipse.

They both burn about 70 gph. You'd be in a 2 seat LSA to get 4.9 gph.

I have owned an Eclipse 550, Cirrus SR22, and currently own a Piper M600. Switching to a Cirrus Vision Jet this year. I would strongly recommend you stay away from the Eclipse. It has no real service support (we had to fly it to Vegas from San Diego every time there was an issue, and there were MANY issues). The costs of maintaining the Eclipse were huge and it was never quite right. Plus, it does not go that much farther because you are using twice the amount of fuel (two engines vs. one), especially when below FL 300--it gulps fuel like crazy. Buy a new Vision Jet with all the warranty and maintenance coverage and you'll never have a bad day. Buy an Eclipse and set aside an extra $1 million for maintenance and repair costs and be prepared to be AOG for at least 25% of the each year. Plus, Cirrus Vision Jet has Garmin 3000. Eclipse uses its own proprietary system that is not half as good or modern.

BTW, a turbo prop is all around more capable than any light jet. Piper M600/M700 and TBM 960 will beat any light jet in terms of all around usability in useful load, range, fuel burn, and high and hot scenarios. But the Vision Jet is more comfortable than the M600 and the TBM is a good $1 million or more in purchase price. So compromises must be made unless you have unlimited budget.

I like the eclipse but interior is bad. I think I’d look at used 100EX or older Honda Jet. The cool thing about Honda Jet is the that you can buy one used and they are scalable, by adding upgrades the others can’t do. They do this so you can keep them longer, and resale is excellent!

Phenom 100EV or 300E. I worked on them when I was at Embrear Mesa AZ. Phenom 100s and 300s have a toilet.

Regarding the parachute how many of those resulted in injuries

As a pilot, how do you get the fuel burn so wrong?

Cirrus 2000 gal? or 2000 lbs of fuel? I think now the new Cirrus SF50 has the Garmin 3000.

Both are great jets. There’s pros and cons to both. I love my vision baby jet because it suits my missions perfectly. I don’t need to fly to 41, 000 feet. As others have already pointed out. You made several mistakes on fuel burn and gallons per hour. It’s also a G 3000 and not a G 1000. Cirrus Aircraft is much stronger as a company compared to eclipse.

Hey Scott here. You might want to check out Flaris Lar 1 jet. Looks like cirrus but cooler. Interior is awesome. 2.5 mil

How come so many people have had to pull the parachute on the Cirrus? That worries me.

eclipse is a real jet. It can go to FL410. Cirrus jet has has single engine turboprop performance with light jet runway requirements and payload, not a good deal.

You missed a step in between your 22T and 550: a turbine. A proper turbine may have been a better option all around when you look at performance and more importantly, cost of ownership. My two cents.

The Cirrus corporation still exists and is a powerhouse in general aviation. Cirrus VisionJet wins.

You should consider the Premier 1A. 460kts, 41, 000 ceiling, single pilot. A hot road and for similar $$. And made by Beechcraft a sign of the best quality. Low points, not in production, not easy to get parts.
