i have a healthy fear of fer de lance, though i think they are so beautiful to look at from a screen, lol. it's so fascinating to see how confident (and kind!) jim is in handling these incredible critters!

I grew up in a rough neighborhood and know a lot of tough guys. Jim stones are bigger than theirs. Love that it's doing good for science.

Jim you make me cringe everytime you reach down to grab these snakes. Great job and thank you for doing this. God bless

I've seen some places that use some kind of cooler to kind of slow them down

Thank you for the detailed explanation. Crazy how low tech the method is in 2021. Seems like a lot of risk for the handler. The only part I was wondering about is why does the snake strike the cone and not the hook.

Amazing Bothrops! I loved your video on working angles with venomous. You should consider doing a video on how to safely pin or restrain the animals without putting yourself at risk. I feel knowing how to properly pin an animal for the safety of any keeper is an extremely important skill for those moments when it's needed. Keep up the amazing work! Hopefully I can come visit soon.

Nice! I haven't seen B. caribbaeus ever in my life. Are they cb/wc? Keep up the good work. Cheers

Glad to know you guys have a colony of these snakes in the zoo as on the island the vipers are now endangered due to them being killed on sight.

Quick question ❓
How many different species/breeds of fer di lance is there?

I'm writing about an expedition to Saint Lucia in 1722 and while they were fortifying the island a crewmember was "
bit by a poifonous Viper', and rendere'd unfervicellble; was order'd on Board; he was fick many Days, but recover'd."

The Bothrops, my favorite but very dangerous and "bity" snake.
