Indian navy should go for Naval Amphibious Multi role plane,
Using platform like say Shin Maewa US-2 (4 turbo props) or using 2 jet engines.
this plane can be amphibous rescue, Maritime Reconaisance etc
1. Presently indian navy uses Helicopters fo rescue, Helis can go max at 300 kmph, so if the rescue is of a downed crew at say 750 kms, that's about 3 hours, further helis do not have such a long range. but on the other hand amphibious plane can travel at twice that speed, also it can have range upto 4000 kms, thus being more effective.
2. Putting good sensors on Maritime Patrol aircraft, that will allow the plane to plug gap between P-8I and ground based avionics, and these planes should be more flexible than P-8I.
3. Similar platform and if we put an AESA, that would be NAVAL AWAC that would be similar in role to E-2D but be more flexible, as it can land in water and be refueled by smaller ships if required.

With 750-800mm armour penetration behind ERA, even the Konkurs are far better than the pituful 350-400mm APFSDS rounds of the great Arjun ;) Cheap option for the Chinese bunkers but we must also get the SPIKE NLOS (on BMPs/NAMICA & air launched) 30km range is huge advantage
