Coatings for a better future

Показать описание
What can we learn from a crack? And what does it mean to perform scientific research in sustainable coatings?
At the Hempel Foundation Coatings Science and Technology Center (CoaST) at DTU - Technical University of Denmark a growing team of international scientists are looking into many different aspects of coatings research.
One being the fight against corrosion. According to the non-profit World Corrosion Organisation rust or corrosion costs US 2.5 tril-lion dollars globally every year. That is 3 to 4% of GDP of industrialized countries.
A main purpose of functional coatings is to extend the life of everyday objects. If a bridge has a longer life span, we will need to re-build fewer bridges. And that saves us significant resources. And CO2 emissions
