I think as a beginner starting with KDP is a better idea. After get to know your way around and earn some audience, leaving all the marketing to a middle company sounds like a good tactic. As usual, Dale acts as a hero for indie author nominees. Cheers mate!

Since March 2020 Customer service with Amazon KDP has want downhill and I found IngramSpark was no better

D2D is indeed good. Again, only one sale but happy to see my book on many sites. Ingram Spark is alright too but as you said, you have to pay. However, the print version cost is strange. I clearly stated the price and yet when I see it on other stores such as bigger ones here in Australia, they charge nearly 50AUD. That's not the price I have entered. Quality wise for the print are pretty good.
Never tried Lulu, so may check them out. Thanks for that.

Once you understand the process and build an audience, leaving the marketing to a reliable company can be a good strategy. When I wrote my first book, I hired Writers of the West to publish it. They are a team of highly competent professionals.

It seems to many of us, that what should be mentioned, is, which companies are going to ask us to PAY THEM. Because many videos do not mention it (Just like the advertisements for such companies), and this tends to make us think of the bad (really bad) old days of the Vanity publishers going under a new label, and, hiding behind the electronic publishing jargon. Tell them to put that up front first, Dale, the better writers will walk. Cheers.

Thank you! Book Baby is not in your list. I’ve used it once. You pay a fee to have them aggregate, but keep all royalties. Do you have an opinion about them? I have a second book ready to publish and am looking at options.
