Aerosol Barrier Mask

The Aerosol Barrier Mask (ABM) device provides physical containment and evacuation of
aerosolized fluids from patients with infectious respiratory diseases. The containment is
created with a form fitting oronasal mask with an aerosol trap-modified expiratory port
retained to the patient’s head with an adjustable head strap. Evacuation is achieved using a
small, low voltage, DC fan operated from a low voltage, DC, rechargeable battery connected
to the outlet side of a Commercial Off-The-Shelf biofilter. This fan-biofilter assembly is
attached to the expiratory post of the mask.
