Shimano Di2 Sprint Shifters are a great electronic hack to add to take your shifting to the next level on your road bike. Shimano make the tiny buttons incredibly lightweight and easy to install, meaning you can install them where-ever you what under the bar tape and then simply plug them into the shifter. Ollie talks you through the installation in this video with some useful tips

I just picked up a pair, used off eBay, for 40! Been running hacked membrane switches on the top of the handlebar until now. I don’t do much sprinting, but I setup the wireless link to my head unit to scroll through the screens and start/stop when I’m on the hoods. Perfect timing for the video, I’ll install these this weekend. Thanks Ollie!

Recently upgraded to SRAM rep eTap and love electronic and wireless shifting. It’s flawless.

Great video on sprint shifters, but with the way eTap works it’s pretty easy to shift in the drops with a little extension and “tap” of the index finger. Cool tech all around though.

You don't need the Bluetooth module to reprogram Di2 buttons. It can also be done using a wired connection to a computer from the charging port.

The e-tube application can be used on Windows or Mac without the EW111 module by using the DI2 SM-BCR2 charger cable in the USB port.

I also would assert that you do need new bar tape and that new roll of bar tape would have been a good choice to use on this project.

Hi. Thanks for all the fun and useful videos from you at GCN. Is there a video for how to dismount the Di2 on a Tempo bike. The ones at the tip of your aero handles? I am about to put a Wattshop Anemoi on my Orbea Ordu just like the one you have on the bike Ollie tested. I just don't know how to do it. Is there any help out there?

I bought climbing shifters that looks like the sprinter shifters from Shimano. They come with longer cable

You do also have sprinting/climbing/TT shifters for di2 disc brake systems which can be inserted into the second socket of the hydraulic shifters or which can be inserted directly into a 5-port junction box. You can even install two pairs of shifters (1 at the shifters and 1 with 5-port junction).

On my old Shimano flydeck is possible to shift from drop position, it has a simple brake lever/shifter (for climbing gears) and a thumb shifter (to speedy gearing).

you can install them upside down. it's then a matter of swinging your thumb upward to make the shift. Cavendish and a few other sprinters have been doing this and it seems more intuitive.
