I shoveled the dirt on the old man's casket a little over a year ago. One of the last country boys!!! God bless the U.S.A and rural America 🇺🇸!!!

I lived in Round Rock Tx. I loved it. Signed, a Native American from Minnesota. I miss the South and all the wonderful, loving people. Thanx, Ya' All.
I was carrying out groceries for a company called H.E.B. I carried the groceries for these small elderly lady, she said, "You are so kind and polite, where are you from?" I said, "Thank You, Minnesota." The lovely lady said, "Ya' damn Yankee." I said, " Yes Ma'am." and left it at that. Love Austin. m

This song used to make me cry. The fact that people can just walk on by and not care, is a reality that is beyond me. Where is the milk of human kindness, and the measure of human decency?

I’m always talking about Merle, George Jones, Hank Jr and Sr, King George Strait as the greatest country voices and I forget Dwight but this dude should not be forgotten and he belongs in the Pantheon of the greatest country vocalists of all time.

Such a melodic voice that can go up and down the range easily.

My dad died unexpectedly in my arms at the age of 63.

I wish I could sing this song as I have a fairly descent singing voice but I can’t make it through the first stanza without losing my voice and having to purse my lips...it hits home.

TOTALLY LOVE THIS SONG- however while it is tremendous when Dwight sings it solo, there is something special when you hear the fiddle accompanying this great song.

People don't realize how perfect his voice is. No gimmicks, back up vocals, back up tracks.
