When it came time to add a segment which joins the 1st 'slice' of the 'music video' prePlex to the 3rd slice, both of which have been previously uploaded to this site, it was noticed that this interstitial bit is a mere 15 seconds long, about a 3rd of the length of the adjoining slices; so this seemed like a good opportunity to show how these montages have been built up.
First of all the entire 14 minute audio composition was recorded consecutively through several music visualizers, so there was a base of several responsive abstractions created by machine listening, which fill in the gaps during editing, while hundreds of found videos were experimentally put in place.
So what you hopefully see, or will see here, is progressively more selective optic accompaniments to 3 iterations of an audio loop— first the auto-abstracts; then a series of somewhat literal videos associated to the electroquoted music making; and then, finally, the current final choice of montage material.

The entire extravaganza of prePlex, featuring over a thousand samples from music circa 1982-1992, can be heard on the FONY vinyl release prePlexure, which is still in-print but currently a bit hard to obtain.
