Ta Prohm Temple is located in the Angkor Archaeological Park near Siem Reap, Cambodia. It was built in the 12th century by King Jayavarman VII as a Hindu temple dedicated to the Buddha. However, Ta Prohm stands out not only for its historical significance but also for its unique relationship with nature.
Unlike many other Angkor temples that have been fully restored, Ta Prohm has been deliberately left in a semi-ruined state, allowing visitors to experience the breathtaking sight of nature reclaiming the structure. The temple is famous for its massive tree roots, particularly those of the strangler fig and the silk-cotton tree, which wrap around the stone walls, creating an eerie yet stunning fusion of architecture and nature.

The original name of the temple was Rajavihara, meaning "royal monastery," but it is more commonly known as Ta Prohm, which translates to "ancestor Brahma" or "grandfather Brahma" in Khmer.
