UNBOXING: Panerai’s new Bronzo PAM 968 Submersible - first look

It feels like the year of the Submersibles for Panerai, ever since it unveiled a long list at SIHH 2019 – from the new Submersible Marina Militare Carbotech PAM979 and PAM961 to the Submersible Luna Rossa PAM 1039. 

They’ve just added the Bronzo PAM 968 to the line-up. 

The new 47mm timepiece, which retails for €16,000 (US$16,500), features bronze as a case material for the first time in the Submersible collection.

It’s well known that 47mm and below is for petite men and women. Realistically if you’re over 6’ tall and over 175 pounds you should be looking at 49mm and up.

Great review, thank you. I really think the watch looks great on your wrist. For some reason, I think females rock a large watch better than most guys. And there is no rule that says a watch has to be any particular size, a matter of personal taste. I am really starting to like this watch more and more, although I haven't yet seen it in real life. Hoping to see on at the Boutique here in Vancouver at some point. The brown dial and bezel are really amazing with the bronze. Cheers, Carl

What are they even thinking making a watch that big? The style is beautiful and they'd sell the hell out of them if they kept it between 36mm and 40mm. But 47mm? That's laughable.

Get a man to demonstrate a man's watch with a major male military history. I don't expect or accept important information from some little chick with overdone makeup and who refers to older men (the buyers of this watch) as 'guys'. In the West a guy is a thing we burn in November on Guy Fawkes Night. The reason they cast an Oriental is because Panerai see the Chinese market as their main target, another insult. She is a marketing exercise, not a watch expert. It's a man's watch, not a little Oriental makeup artist's watch. Let the messenger fit the message.
