How to remove a rivet.

Thank you ... most helpful for my application (removing ruined wheels from carry-on luggage).  The shafts for the wheels are riveted at one end.

A comment was made about finding the diameter of the rivet to remove it; this of course is correct. You must first determine the diameter of the rivet before you can remove it.

The rivets used on the Excalibur are all the same diameter and will require the same size drill to remove or by grinding it out.

The aim is to remove the rivet without expanding the hole any more than what it already has been made when the rivet was either driven or pulled.

Cherry Max rivets are removed in a similar manner but require a slightly different approach. The locking collar must be removed first. A drill slightly larger than the diameter of the collar is used to cut out the collar then the drill size is reduced to match the diameter of the ri et.

great video, but unfortunately I just started in the aerospace structural assembly field and they only permit drill removal, the skins far too expensive to bring a grinder or chisel to. anyone know any good videos for drill removal of unacceptable rivets?

Grind off cherry collars ... them use a punch that is. 030" smaller to drive out the rest.

my teacher had said to drill straight threw the center of the rivet until the head pops off then punch it threw
