Something I noticed, this scene is basically a "how to" for writing a good story (or at least writing a good story arc). You start with something the audience knows, or at least thinks they know. A philosophy, a character archetype, a real world concept, or even a misdirection from within the story. You take that concept and turn it into something extraordinary. You add depth, development, twists. You make the audience question something they thought they knew. And then, you bring the understanding back. You use that to cultivate a final idea, a new shifted perspective. Of course, that final aspect is the most crucial and the most difficult. It's easy to fake a good story with twists and turns, but if it doesn't come together in some way (not necessarily that the conflict is resolved, but that there's a sort of emotional conclusion to it), then it doesn't really hold up.

It's mind boggling how good this movie actually is. I watched it once when it came out and was impressed by the acting and cinematography, but not until recently when I've watched it couple more times I realize that it's soooo well done! The way Bale acts slightly different when he's portraying each of the brothers, the way the whole movie is set up as a magic trick containing the 3 parts mentioned in the beginning of the movie. Ahh damn it's so brilliant!

If you really think about it this scene is almost a short film...and a really good one. Christopher Nolan is the best movie maker today.

To me this scene signifies the truth. We humans don't really want to know the truth, we rather be fooled and be amazed by the illusion that we think is the truth.

If only wolverine could just accept that his role in Transported Man was mainly in the first stage: building suspense using his oratory skill. The fact that his double would be the one who receive the final applause from the audience while he had to receive applause from below the stage was a price for a good magic trick. Too bad he was a narcist who thinked that he should get the applause and spend so much money and sacrificing his friendship to make that a reality.

Which, I think, is what's ruining that movie for those who either don't like it or don't understand it.

Money is magic, language is currency.

Dollars of less than a trillion is no surprise, at least to me in my mind. So, what does that say about trillions, billions, millions, and hundreds of thousands? Value of money is a figment of imagination. Power is vested in systems that corrupt "people" to do what power demands. Money is magic and language is currency. Language corrupts when it is used as currency to influence/entertain. Application of currency is magic.
