If Joey had just enough energy left to finish off Yami Marik it would of been deserved, it's what he would get for screwing around instead of focusing on winning because his actual focus was messing around and tormenting Joey

You can tell that he has a lack of empathy for Joey, but there’s also a subtle hint of respect there. Joey came from the gutter with nothing, the same way Kaiba did. On numerous occasions, he defies the odds and to do that so often Kaiba can’t do anything but respect it. Even helped Tristan when Tristan almost dropped Joey after Joey passed out

Yami Marik was the worst duelist in Kaiba's Tournament. Mai and Joey both should've beat him. Kaiba, Yugi, Ishizu, and even Odion would all beat him. Yami Bakura was the only guy he beat and that was because he listened to bad advice from Marik.
