In this video, I show you how to patch a large hole in a cinder block wall. This hole in my cinder block foundation wall resulted from me removing an old metal wood stove chimney. This left me with a large hole in my concrete foundation wall that needed to be repaired. This video will show you how to:

1. Clean the hole in your cinder block wall
2. How to patch/repair/fill the hole in your concrete cinder block wall.
3. How to paint the wall so that it matches the rest of your cinderblock foundation wall.

I am sure there are many different ways to accomplish this, but this is how I did it. Please comment any ways you would have done this differently and how I can improve on the next project. Thanks for watching!

To get a near perfect flat blended repair, you need to wait for the mortar or patching cement to partially set up, then take a dense foam float and smooth the repair area into the wall.

Good job. I did the exact same thing, but just poured concrete in the opening while having the interior side fully formed with a square piece of plywood and 90% formed on the outside. The last 10%, I waited for the concrete to start setting a bit and used a trowel and a stick to cram as much concrete as would fit inside, then put a form on the last bit of the hole to cover it fully and allow it to set without coming out. Next day, took the forms down and all good.

Thanks for the video. Was having a hard time finding a project that matched mine. I have to fill in an old coal chute 20 x 28.

I plan to remove a natural gas pipe that goes through a concrete block. Suggestions on the best way to fill the hole? I was thinking about dumping hydraulic cement into a thick plastic trash bag and cut a corner out of the bag and squeeze the concrete into the hole. Any thoughts?

Top-down or side-to-side motion at a 45-degree angle. Also, I think that quickrete could've been a hair thinner as well. But it still looks good!

Nice job, if the hole isn’t fixed with the wall release dust and debris or not necessarily?

I have a 6 inch by 7 inch rectangular pass through between my in ground pool and in ground hot tub. I want to fill the hot tub in because we never can keep the heater working. Plan on using this technique. Concrete to fill 90 percent of the pass through, then finish ends with hydrolic concrete to make it water proof. I think it will work but we will see!
