Just for clarity, If you take out a 1000 SSL and pay 90%, does the entire 1000 remained blocked? You mentioned the loan among being blocked so wanted to clarify.

Awesome info! I just started with penfed at the beginning of the month, I have a little over 1k in each account (checking and savings) and I just switched my direct deposit to them 100%. My credit isn't good and I was looking for something to beef up the relationship. I'm interested in the gold card mostly to carry a balance, I have plenty of rewards cards already, thanks for the info 😀 👍🏾

I was disappointed in the credit limit on the card they approved. I have tolerance for them right now. I'm gonna try your way to see what happens. No business products available irritated me also.

So if I do this, and pay 90% off right away and then the remaining balance across the next months, would this work? Also, do they hold all of the money until you pay off the loan completely or will they release the funds as you pay?

I understand that no inquiry will be generated on my reports if I do this BUT will it lower my age of accounts? I don't want a new card right now. I just want SOME ACTIVITY in the credit mix portion of my report.
