Tsalka, the Greek Pontus region of Georgia

I met some of the Greeks of Georgia and ended up in Tsalka which was beautiful. Can’t thank Evgenia enough and of course Elena. I wrote a piece on my visit for Neos Kosmos. We the Greeks abroad must do everything we can support these amazing people to hold onto the language and culture

I would imagine there would be a sizable Greek Pontic community is Georgia (and Russia) since many had fled there during the Greek Ottoman war. Thanks for the video Vasili.

Μπράβο που πήγες Τσάλκα, δυστυχώς οι περισσότεροι Έλληνες έχουν φύγει για Ελλάδα.
Στην Γεωργία έχει μείνει ενα μικρό δείγμα του Ελληνισμού.
Κάποτε ζούσαν 190.000 .
Εκτός της Τσάλκας και η πόλη Ζεσταφόνι ιδρύθηκε απο Έλληνες Πόντιους.

I thought this was Georgia USA and was like how come I didn't know about this town?...now I realize it's the country Georgia 😅
