I think the Mario Galaxy French Canadian localisation was the best Nintendo has ever done. Using the boring standard french we usually get sucks the life, charm and personality out of games and is the reason I usually play my games in English in the first place. It's a damn shame that they got criticism for actually doing a good job.

The Scarlet Red Wine in TTYD actually makes the scene sadder. Bobbery wants a drink of Scarlet Red Wine, to remind him of his wife, Scarlet, once more.

The Cape is underrated, I want it back to a new Mario game...

Did you know that Mario with his brother were once invited to Peach’s castle? It was speculated that they would have spaghetti, but Bowser kidnapped her before the Bros got to the castle.

Those footballs in a sack... that wasn't rejected, UK Magazines did use that advert!

I still remember the controversy around the Quebec translation of Super Mario Galaxy, it was really weird for me to see that being talked about on TV.

1:48 I thought it was common knowledge that this is just a stock sound effect available in various SFX libraries.
It was also used in other games, cartoons and movies. The fact that Nintendo used the same sound for their Mario game while Phillips used it for THEIR Mario game was just a big coincidence.

Remix: Did you know? There are two pornographic parody movies of Super Mario Brothers called Super Hornio Brothers 1 and 2 which are actually owned by Nintendo.
Me: (jazz music stops)

2:00 Actually, that's just a fairly common game sound effect. You can hear it when you enter a slipgate in Quake

3:12 This also stays true to the Mario Party games that came after this (2 - 8), but for 4 - 8, it only shows up if you try and get a Star when you have _999_ stars. I know that that's the limit because that's how much Action Replay's default Max Stars code gives you.

Reminds me of how many inconvenient slang words us Brits have

3:19 i saw this myself when messing around with that code, an addendum to that is that the CPU characters arent programmed to know they have max stars. the only example being that if they happen across Boo they will attempt to steal a star, but the option is blanked out due to having max stars which then leads to a soft lock as the AI only knows to TRY to steal stars..

Did you know, Mario is a "plumber" an ancient race of sewer dwelling people with the ability to throw fire and increase their mass two fold, fear the plumbers... they are coming for our princesses.

That sound effect from Hotel Mario is just a stock sound effect though, it's likely a coincidence

It's always so interesting finding out about the history of production and advertisements for any franchise, especially those by Nintendo
