The seventh song for my ”A Life In Black: A Tribute To Johnny Cash” series is here! "Big Iron" is originally written by Marty Robbins. Johnny made a cover of it at the end of his life that is just amazing. Singing this song really brings me back to 2019 when I did "Redemption".

LYRICS
To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day
Hardly spoke to folks around him, didn't have too much to say
No one dared to ask his business, no one dared to make a slip
For the stranger there among them had a big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip

It was early in the morning when he rode into the town
He came riding from the south side, slowly lookin' all around
"He's an outlaw loose and runnin'", came a whisper from each lip
"And he's here to do some business with a big iron on his hip"
"Big iron on his hip"

In this town there lived an outlaw by the name of Texas Red
Many men had tried to take him and that many men were dead
He was vicious and a killer, though a youth of twenty four
And the notches on his pistol numbered one and nineteen more
One and nineteen more

Now the stranger started talkin' made it plain to folks around
Was an Arizona ranger, wouldn't be too long in town
He came here to take an outlaw back alive or maybe dead
And he said it didn't matter he was after Texas Red
After Texas Red

The morning passed so quickly it was time for them to meet
It was twenty past eleven when they walked out in the street
Folks were watchin' from the windows
Every body held their breath
They knew this handsome ranger was about to meet his death
About to meet his death

There was forty feet between them
When they stopped to make their play
And the swiftness of the Ranger is still talked about today
Texas Red had not cleared leather for a bullet fairly ripped
And the ranger's aim was deadly, with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip

Big iron, big iron
When he tried to match the ranger with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip

Ah...this brings back memories...of an ex-sniper, robot dog, and a whole lot of desert and ruins to explore.

Truly a masterpiece of a game.

Kickass cover too.

And so the Courier who had cheated death in the cemetery outside Goodsprings, cheated death once again, and the Mojave Wasteland was forever changed.

I love the slower tempo of this cover. It really adds a sense that the ranger WILL succeed, despite the challenge. Your incredible voice carries this song well. Excellent job!

Dude, this is easily my favorite cowboy ballad. Marty Robbins is my SECOND favorite country singer next to Cash. You just made my day seeing this =D
Fantastic work as always, keep them coming! Ever thought of doing a cover of Serenity from Firefly?

So I am gonna say it. Outside of your Red Dead covers, this is my second favorite song of yours, next only to Hurt.

I feel like this should be the ending song to the credits of New Vegas after the slideshow

That was great. Nothing like the gripping, mournful sound of a haunting Western song, and you nailed it.

Hi Christian Larsson, I'm Italian, I listened to almost all the songs you have on your YouTube channel! I met you thanks to Red Dead Redemption 2! Great video game! I like the soundtracks you have interpreted much more than the original ones! I hope that for the next chapters, Rockstar Games will hire you to compose songs! I congratulate you ... you have all my respect from Italy! Since you are now carrying songs from Jhonny Cash, it would be very nice if you brought Ghost Riders In The Sky! I hope you don't mind this advice! God bless you!🤠
