This is how I passed the series 7 exam. The exam now is divided between the series 7 and and SIE exam. The FINRA exams are required to provide investment recommendations and can be very useful in a finance career. Here is my series 7 study strategy.

Most big firms like Chase, Bank of America or Morgan Stanley will give you time during business hours from 9-5 to let you study for the exam. But they do expect you to pass within the first time.

I’m getting hired at Fidelity about to do my last interview. I’ve heard it hard but I won’t be starting the job till January 24, 2022 & training and prep starts till then. I’m planning to buy a book to study for the series 7 now & not wait for the training they are going to provide . So I can study before hand and be ahead 👏🏼👏🏼 . Thanks for the video !!

That’s what I did too for the SIE and 63. My employer has us study for 8 hours a day for a month and that’s felt like overkill.

Do you take notes while reading every chapter? I’m a fast reader but my bullet point notes makes me feel like the chapters are never ending! I feel like writing notes while reading helps me to stay focused, but it’s very time consuming!

FYI: I passed the S7 in 2012, but left the industry in 2016, so now I have to retake it next month. :/

You could call this video “how to study for any professional licensing exam”. I used your same methods to pass the CISSP for my cybersecurity job. 👍🏻

My company is using 4 weeks, they use STC. If math formulas are my issues, which formulas do you recommend writing down at the test center?

This is great info AJ, thank you! Once you pass Series 7, do you have to stay in an advisory role to maintain your Series 7 or you must renew your license or membership fee every year? Thanks, Emily.

He forgot to mention, that IF YOU didn't go to business school, you won't have a clue about anything you see on the Series 7 exam... its an entirely different subject matter that will simply stump you due to unfamiliarity with the language, the vernacular of business & finance. Read the Wall Street Journal newspaper for 3 -6 months daily, to become familiar with the terminology and subject matter and learn if its an area that even interests you... (at my Biz school in Boston, freshmen were required to subscribe to the Wall Street Journal to immerse themselves in the dialect of business and investments, to get a running start.)
