Make a Cactus Terrarium - How To Terrarium ep. 4

Показать описание
This is the Fourth episode of, "How to Terrarium." In this episode, you will learn EVERYTHING you need to know in order to make an effective and natural-looking Cactus Terrarium. Cacti aren't typically plants that would be housed in a terrarium. Therefore, if there were a cactus terrarium, this is it!

As mentioned in the video, although you may see cactus terrariums online that look cool, they might not be tailored to the cactus plant (as they should be). In this series we are trying to make effective terrariums that not only look good, but are well-suited to the plants and animals they house.

*Difficultly Level: Beginner/Intermediate*
Cactus terrariums are pretty easy to care for and maintain as cacti are low maintenance plants for the most part. The difficultly with this terrarium is finding the proper container. Remember to put this terrarium in a bright and warm location.

Note: Visit this link for the substrate mix.

I am so in love with my new discovery. Previously had no real interest in growing.
Bought an aloe plant from my neighbor after his wife passed bcuz he wasn't taking care of it. I researched how to care for it, got the cactus mix soil & now it's so gorgeous and healthy and tall. She's had 4 babies alreardy. I call them babies & I love em😊.

Anyway, now that I've discovered terrariums, I'm hooked. I will be doing this. It's so dope.

I love the video. As a gardener I have one suggestion. Plants always look better when planted in odd numbers. 1, 3 or 5 plants would have looked better.

5 years have passed already.
This was one of the first videos I've watched.
I'm curious, do you still have this terrarium? Would love to see an update.

I'm from Argentina, I don't understand much explanation because of english, but the video and their images were very clear.

Hey, I'd definitely recommend using a brush (a toothbrush or a makeup brush, something with soft bristles) to get soil off of plants, that way you won't be blowing outside soil everywhere.

I lived in Arizona for a year and I fell in LOVE with the desert environment! Getting glochids in my fingers hurts though, that's why I don't grow them.

I appreciate that you value the plant needs over aesthetics. I have seen some beautiful plantings that I know are never going to last due to the conditions they are in. Great videos and great series!

That being said, this dude gives zero f's about having cactus hands

I could seriously listen to your voice all day. Screen idea is excellent for maintaining layers. With these glass terrariums, you can keep an eye on moisture in the bottom and mist like you are with a spray bottle lightly 2 days in a row rather than water so much it goes to the bottom. Wonderful video!

Could you start making small aquariums kinda how you make your terrariums? Maybe with water springtails, freshwater snails, and aquatic plants?
