2023 XPeng P7 Unveiled Walkaround

The Xpeng P7 electric sedan has become the best-selling model for the Chinese automaker, accounting for almost half of the company's total sales in mainland China last year. The updated version of the P7, which was introduced in Europe earlier this year with updated hardware, has now been launched in China as the Xpeng P7i.

While the previous version of the P7 was not available in Europe, the P7i has been tailored specifically for the Chinese market. The P7i retains the 400V architecture of its predecessor but features a new battery that supports 175kW DC charging, an upgrade from the previous 90 kW capability. The company claims that DC charging from 10 to 80% State of Charge (SoC) now takes just 29 minutes.

Although power output figures have not yet been released, Xpeng claims that the single-motor RWD model can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds, which is 0.3 seconds faster than the previous version. The dual-motor AWD version can complete the same sprint in just 3.9 seconds, which is 0.4 seconds better than its predecessor.

Xpeng's outgoing P7 received significant price reductions last month, resulting in 6,010 units being sold in February alone. With the new P7i hitting showrooms in the coming days, Xpeng will be hoping to replicate or exceed last year's sales figures of 59,066 units.
