I had the privilege of performing this piece with the US Air Force Band out of Warner Robins AFB, Ga. under the direction of the composer Dr. Alfred Reed in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. in the 1980's. What a thrill it was! I love this piece and it was masterly performed here by this great band. Thank you!

Interpretation aside, I marvel at the clarity of how the entire performance was captured. This has to be out on CD! The flute soli at 8:31 is usually a blur live but here you can almost imagine the notes right in front of you!

One of Wind Band Music's famous classics played by one of the world's best Bands. Sublime performance as always!

Great performance. Didn't know this magnificent piece of music, until yesterday evening. We attended the show performed by the Dutch HM Royal Marines Band, celebrating the 150th aniversary of the local Orchestra "De Hoop" in Ossendrecht (The Netherlands). Wow, just as good your band. It was an honour attending this show. Also a great performance. You yourself may proud of this one.

This band is wonderful and they are playing a delightful composition, I love the tempo changes with the beautiful

And the cameraman/director should have given the timpanist some love at 1:08. If you're familiar with the score, the timpanist is going absolutely bonkers here going at fortissimo and leaping semiquavers between the D & A drums.

This is the only video I’ve seen on YouTube of a wind band at Royal Albert Hall wow

This piece is so fantastically written and I was just dissatisfied with the entirety of the middle. Notes and rhythms were played but I didn’t feel like there was any substance or emotion behind them. Everything at a fast tempo was quite precise though so pretty good performance overall.

And this entire section beg. 5:57 should have been focused on the mallet percussion, esp. the marimba player.

Great piece, but de second/middle part is played with very little soul. Straight, to the point (like military soldiers ;-) ), but with very little dynamics. Such a pity. Hopefully it will be/would have been better without social distancing!

Great performance but what does the director have against the cornets? Not a single shot of the soloist in the slow mvt....

Nice performance rendered so-so by the awful acoustics and poor recording techniques. And no doubt made worse by the social distancing within the ensemble.

And I wonder why anyone would decide to light the ensemble as if they were in a cave. Why bother wearing snappy uniforms of nobody can see them from the audience (without the camera closeups, neither could we).

I also thought the first oboe played her part very mechanically; I have heard much more musical playing of that part elsewhere.

I suppose its was the director 's decision to add that un-Alfred Reed dynamics effect in the brass on the last chord of the opening just sounds stupid, bad idea.

Something is so weird about this recording. The balance is so off, everywhere.

Está bien para ser ingleses, aunque van más rápido de lo que pueden.

Yeah, gotta agree. Middle section is wooden and mechanical. This is one of the big lyrical movements in the rep and this performance was really disappointing.
