When Larsson broke his leg, it was all over for Barnes. People seem to forget we were beating teams by 4 or 5 before Larsson broke his leg.

John Barnes time at Celtic was to put it bluntly… Scheidt

In retrospect it looks like John Barnes was pretty decent, I was quite young at the time and all I remember is the toxicity. Any way without his failure we might have not gotten MON and we might not have been able to dominate scottish football for the last 25 years.

Call me ignorant of Scottish football, but I did laugh at the " next up was a tough test against the stalwart defence of KILMARNOCK...."..😂..and I admit it is quite funny watching the John Barnes interviews in a row getting more n more stressed bless him man.

What an absolute treat, I'm a celtic fan but failed seasons of clubs even my own are fascinating to look back on and try to peace together where it went wrong

Just realised that next season it will be 40 years since a team other than celtic/rangers won the Scottish premier league. That is truly depressing.

Yet another great video. Morten Wieghorst was a legend in his own right, who's sadly been forgotten about by most football fans. Not only did he fight his way back from getting Guillain-Barré syndrome and came back stronger than ever, he' s also received the Olympic Commitee Fair Play award. I can't help wonder though, if he wouldn't have ended up playing for one of the better mid-level teams in the English Premier League, if he hadn't become sick just when he was reaching his prime, because his playing style was perfect for the English game at the time.

Gotta say. I love this channel. Would love more manager retrospectives. It’s something that sets you apart from every football channel. You are very good at it and we’re missing it on YouTube. Keep it up.

You could say the 4-2-2-2 system was "Schiedt".

This season was my introduction to following Celtic from afar after family who were already long time Celtic supporters started inviting me over to see games after Petta signed from Ipswich Town, who we had(have) season tickets with.
Petta was one of my favourite Ipswich players as a boy and following his progress at paradise led to me becoming a supporter too.
Great video mate, interesting to relive it as an adult.

Some incredible footage I've not seen in years, some ever. Great stuff.

This was a really well put together video. It seems like Barnes' tactics were very much feast or famine - where they would either smash 5 past the opposition or end up losing narrowly. Sadly that isn't consistent enough for them to be winning trophies.

@14:44 got real Martin Oneil vibes there. Great video so far, love these old school breakdowns.
