Mori and Gura are part of what is called a "generation" in Hololive, which is a collective of talents who all debut at the same time as part of the same group. Their generation is called "Myth", hence the credits for this song. Kiara, Amelia, and Ina'nis are the other 3 members of Mori's and Gura's generation, so this is like a big group project for them to all work together on this. They've done it twice before with a Halloween original song last year called "Myth or Treat" I think? and a cover of country roads.

If you wanted to one of the members here, Takanashi Kiara also has a decent catalogue of her original music too, her newest song "Do U" even has a fully animated 3D music video. So you could check her out too

You may not be a fan of the song but the meaning of the song itself is special because it's was written to celebrate their 2nd anniversary since they debuted and so it's very triumphant, with all the doubt and stress from when they first started, to the confident hard workers they are now, it makes me very proud to see how far they have come and I'm glad I was there for the whole ride and I can't wait to see what they do next

The mixing in the chorus was amazing. The fact that they're all singing upper alto to soprano, and you can still make out all five individual voices is nothing short of miraculous.

I personally also prefer heavier stuff, although this song definitely special for me personally since I've seen "Myth"'s journey these past two years so its pretty wonderful when they put out a group song like this. And btw a quick overview of them in debut order:
- Mori Calliope: You know her, first apprentice of the Grim Reaper and she has a lot of original songs.
- Takanashi Kiara: Phoenix warrior and fast food chain boss (KFP), she has 5 original songs, mostly leaning towards a Pop/K-Pop style but great music nonetheless. Also has a bunch of covers.
- Ninomae Ina'nis: Priestess of the Ancient Ones. She has a lot of covers and her original song "Violet" is wonderful (Has CC).
- Gawr Gura: An Atlantean smol shork. She does a lot of Karaoke and covers, her original song "Reflect" is I think worth checking out in this channel and just as I was writing this I remembered that you already checked it out, nice!
- Amelia Watson: Time Travelling Detective. She doesn't really do music, but she is an absolute powerhouse in the Vtubing community and Hololive in regards to creativity, she is peak "streamer".

This video and Myth or Treat are useful for understanding's Calli's song Red. The references to trusting her heart to the cards and 5 minutes in that song are references to the other four girls in their five girl Myth group. That's why the four cards with their characters show up in those parts of the video. She's figuratively saying she trusts them more than herself.

I'm hoping that while you weren't big on this song, that it inspires you to branch out past Mori, and check out a few other members of Hololive.
A few suggestions (namely songs in English, predominant English lyrics):
Kiara Takanashi - "Fever Night" and "DO U"
IRyS - "One Step At A Time"
Hakos Baelz - "Play Dice"
Moona Hoshinova - "High Tide"
Sana Tsukumo - "Astrogirl"

This piece is actually a follow up to one they released as a group last year, "Journey of 1000 Years". Check it out if you want a little more back story.
This one is not really to my taste either, however it does present a decent showcase for all their voices.
If you want a good laugh and killer art, check out their "Myth or Treat". A fun little banger fitting to halloween.

You've got an eclectic bunch of characters there in Holo Myth. Calli the rapping grim reaper and master of Jump King, Gura the shark girl from Atlantis who is bad at math but good at rhythm games, Amelia the time traveling British detective who is good at FPS, Kiara the pheonix who runs a fast food chicken franchise and Ina the formerly human eldritch god with a huge forehead who is great at art (much of the art if you go back and look for Calli's MVs were done by Ina).

It’s all five actually, in order of who showed up in the vid for their bits: Gura, Kiara, Calli(as you know), Ame, and finally Ina

very interesting analysis of the mix here

It's notable that Ina (Black hair) and Amelia (Blonde) are not professional singers. They've actually showed a lot of their improvement from being total newbies when they started 2 years ago. The other three all did music before coming to Hololive.

I'm with you, I prefer heavier stuff so this isn't exactly my type.
It's cute though and I respect it for what it is. There are some really good voices in there.

0:55 "Hololive taking over the universe" heh yeah, have you heard about Hololive City yet? They have their own theme park in Tokyo. Hail to the new Queens.

unlike you, I prefer music with this genre. melancholic, fantasy and adventurous, fitting to their characters. that strings, guitar solo, the chorus and the bridge, I can't say enough how I loved every bit of it. of course, calli wrote the lyrics you can see her style there as these are straight up poetry, so many layers to the writing. also I appreciate how you put a spotlight on the artist cause I'm one too, the illustrations are beautifully drawn, the girls look amazing!

Gura and Mori make part of Hololive english generation 1 called myth, the other members are Takanashi Kiara(orange colored girl), a great dancer and has a good bunch of songs, most recent being DO U, you might want to watch it, Ninomae ina'nis(black haired girl), good artist, so good her thumpnails are made by her 90% percent of the time, her streams are pretty calming when it comes to drawing and finally Amelia Watson(blonde girl) although she isn't a great singer or dancer, she is a ver inventive and clever girl who had made great contributions to no only her group like getting people to develop the very popular smoll models, but hololive as a whole, is very believed she herself scouted EN second generation and stars GEN 1 all while being in vacations.
This song represent their second anniversary, how they started insanely nervous, so much that Gura created the meme with her "A", and now are super famous hardworkers that are incredibly proud to have done all of this to reach this point.
Btw, the myth name is because all of these girls in the lore are supernatural beings, Gura is a shark girl from atlantis, Mori is a grim reaper(aprentice), Kiara is a phoenix, Ina is a priestess of the elder gods and ame is a time traveling detective.

I LOVE this song. There are a few songs where all five or this group (HoloMyth) sing together, but this one is by far the best. I think it's also one of Calli's best compositions.

Of the girls here, I'd say that the fourth and fifth ones whose parts appear in it have the least musical background ( *Amelia Watson* and *Ninomae Ina'nis* ) but they excel in a lot of other ways as content creators and bring a lot to the agency with some incredible skills. That said, I was VERY impressed with Amelia Watson's musical contribution to this song. Until I heard her here I wondered if she could do more than just stay in tune with the melodies because her Karaoke streams are pretty blah (in my opinion), but HERE she does a VERY good job and brings her part in the whole production out very well. I was very impressed with how well she sounds here.

*Ninomae Ina'nis* is known mostly for her amazing artistic skills and she's perhaps the best visual artist in all of Hololive. In her only (so far) solo music video "Violet" she did all of the visuals for it, and she did a nice job singing in it too. *Amelia Watson's* contributions to the whole group have come in the form of being a technical genius. Her skills in that area helped bring the whole group together in a lot of special collab streams during the COVID-19 pandemic when they were all grounded and continents apart. These five girls are TIGHT and if there's a Hololive group that is inseparable, it's HoloMyth.

The people singing are the people shown at the time they are on screen

I feel you with liking songs that are more in your face, though I do have a soft spot for the more melancholic songs especially depending on lyrics and the emotions behind the words. This song is one of those few that hits nicely because of the journey that these 5 have gone through the past two years. Can't recommend listening to the other myth girls music enough, some of their songs are honestly really good. Personally got to recommend Takenashi Kiara's original "Sparks." It is very upbeat and heavily inspired more on J-pop but it's a banger
