The Rocker - Movie Look Back Review 2008
Hey guys welcome back to another Movie Look Back Review here on Toned In Entertainment. Now being a huge fan of the TV show The Office and seeing that Rainn Wilson who played Dwight Schrute was in this movie is what got my attention. But is this movie worth rocking out to? Let’s get on with my Movie Look Back review for The Rocker released back in 2008.
The Movie stars
Rainn wilson as Fish
Christina Applegate as Kim
Teddy Geiger as Curtis
Josh Gas as Matt
Emma Stone as Amelia
Jeff Garlin as Stan
Jane Lynch as Lisa
Jason Sudeikis as David Marshall
Will Arnett as Lex
Howard Hesseman as Gator
Fred Armisen as Kerr
Bradley Cooper as Trash
Lonny Ross as Sticks
Jon Glaser as Billy
Jane Krakowski as Carol
The Premise
The rock band Vesuvius is about to breakout and become the world’s next mega band. Put the powers that be have some changes for the band moving forward, most notably giving drummer Fish the boot.
Mundane Life
Over the next 20 years the band Vesuvius goes onto achieve mega stardom, and poor Fish wilters his days aways working a mundane job and living an even more mundane life when he goes home.
One More Shot
Now while Fish had pretty much given up his hopes and dreams of ever becoming a rock star he is asked by his nephew to play with their bad A.D.D. at a school function as they are in need of a drummer. With Fish on the sticks this band made enough of an impression to the right people to get their shot at fame.
Wild Ride
A.D.D get the chance of a lifetime to go on tour. Fish will try and relive his glory days of the past as a rockstar on tour, but this will lead to the group getting into some trouble that almost shatters their dreams.
Chaperone
Now in order for the band to continue the tour 40 year old Fish and the rest off A.D.D. will need a chaperone and that’s when Lead singer Curtis’ mom Kim comes along for the ride not so much to keep an eye on the youngsters but more to make sure Fish doesn't get them into any more trouble.
Isn’t It Romantic
Throughout the movie all the members will deal with ups and downs of trying to find romance while being rock stars. But the most complicated will be when Curtis believes Fish is busy romancing his mom which drives a wedge between the band.
Big Break
Now A.D.D will get their big shot at becoming the next big rock stars but here’s the catch they will have to open for Vesuvius. And it won’t be on just another concert date but on the night they will be inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame.
Do I Recommend The Rocker?
Yes I do. Putting aside some forced plot points in the movie I enjoyed it. It’s a fun and charming movie that makes for a fun watch for all members of the family.
Where to Watch It
While currently not available for free on any of your favorite streaming platforms it is available to rent on YouTube and Amazon Prime for $3.99
Final Thoughts
On a scale of 1-10 I’m going to give The Rocker a 7.5 out of 10. You’ll get some laughs through this 1 hour and 40 minute movie, plus you’ll be rooting for Fish to get his revenge. And without spoiling the ending I thought they would certainly go the easy and cliche way but they throw a curveball form the predictable ending which gave this movie a very funny and good ending. Now have you watched the movie The Rocker and if you have what did you think?
