This was truly beyond the headline! Never would’ve guessed that Allardyce was a pioneer of sports science in the English game. Think we take his man management and big personality for granted. A staple of English football in every way.

Money passed through a window to Big Sam in Ireland. That's where it all started...

Whatever people have to say ...
Any Championship level teams fan would have loved him .
He got Bolton in the Premier league on a very limited budget and kept them there .
Best years for a Bolton Fan, we enjoyed it .
His managerial record speaks for itself.

Big Sam’s team at Bolton was a pleasure to watch even tho I didn’t support them as they sued my dad for a hell of a lot of money. I did used to get free tickets to see them as my mates step dad was grounds man at the Reebok. About 6 of us used to go and watch them. Jay Jay was magical on the ball.

I remember the story from an ex player that he'd be in dubai all week and only show up in training the day before a game

Problem with Allardyce is that he's a Northern Englishman. If he was a 90s Italian in Seria A, he'd have a more favourable reputation in a football context. End of the day, not everyone is Guardiola, hell Howe is not Guardiola, he's got a worse record overall with more money spent at one club than Allardyce.

I find it funny, how Allardyce is nothing but a long ball merchant, but one of Klopps best tactics was getting V.Dijk to play long ball, bypassing the midffield into one of the front 3. And you can't play "long ball" with Okocha or Djorkaeff. But no one will mention either of those things. We sweep it under the carpet.

In an alternate universe, the england side under Allardyce, go all the way to the world cup final in russia with an unimpressive, dogged, predominantly route one but effective style of play with Harry Maguire, the side's second most efficient attacking outlet behind Kane, and with a galvanized Townsend and Walcott crossing into the box.

Following this, Allardyce is heralded as the new "special one", knighted and is in line to replace Allegri at Juventus....

Hi James, I wanted to know his career. I’m studying English from you a lot as well. So.. thank you as always!

I hope you will be touching on his meltdown at Barry Knight/Ipswich Town in the play off semi final against Ipswich back in 2000?

The lack of style and grace Allardyce displayed in defeat was astounding, .
He sent his players out to kick lumps out of Ipswich and to disrupt our fluid passing game; his team lost his head in and in the process two red cards and multiple penalties were conceded!
Only the battle of Bramall Lane comes close in terms of thuggery I’ve witnessed on the pitch.

Especially amusing was how Allardyce couldn’t get his head around how Paul Ritchie picking up David Johnson by the scruff of his shirt and slamming him to the ground was a penalty, in his eyes it was an absolute travesty of justice 😂

This obviously lived long in the memory with Allardyce as all the way up until he got the England job he appeared to make reference to it at least once a season 🤦‍♂️

He is still disliked by the majority of Ipswich supporters twenty plus years later...

Let us not forget this guy profited off 3rd party ownership of players, basically a form of slavery.
