Konya The Most Religious City in Turkey! 🇹🇷

After a 1 hour flight from Istanbul we found ourselves in Konya, a city located in south central Turkey. Konya has a reputation of being Turkey's most religious, conservative and tradition city. We decided to visit Konya to get a better understanding of Turkey as we've only visited Istanbul, Antalya and Izmir which are all quite touristy and Turkey's 3 biggest cities. Although Konya is still the 7th biggest city in Turkey we were surprised at how we felt like we were in a small community.

We found Konya incredibly safe and the people were very friendly and helpful towards us. Apart from Hagia Sophia and Sultan Ahmed neither of us had been inside a Mosque before but we were left speechless at how beautiful each mosque we visited was.

We would have loved to have known this before we visited any of the mosques so incase you're wondering, you're completely welcome inside any mosque, even if you're not going in to pray. Just remove your shoes, cover your shoulders (don't wear a singlet) and women must cover their heads and shoulders. Hannah did need to buy a head scarf which was 15 TL (not even $2) however in Istanbul you can rent these outside the touristy mosques.

Overall, really glad we came to Konya and we would definitely return!

Great vlog from Turkey! Enjoyed seeing things about a country that we know little about. Love your historical facts about that mosque that burned down too. Enjoy learning as we are entertained.

Your video quality is amazing. Love to see a town that is low key especially after the hectic Istanbul.

Awesome to see Konya! Your Turkish is coming together nice. Excellent history overview before stepping into the first mosque. What an incredible museum. Hannah walked through some amazing places in this episode. 🐕 maybe not? We couldn't make it until 2 pm without eating. Stay safe!!

Right now the best place to go on vacation is Çeşme. It's not very hot there either, the beaches are wonderful and the old town is beautiful.

Haha I guess now I know how to say "camera" in turkish! If only the rest of the language was that easy to learn! 😊 📷

Kids in 0:33 weren't speaking Turkish (at least not much), i assume they're refugee kids. It was still a nice try though.

By the way, Konya actually has its fair share of tourists, but they are primarily from other muslim countries instead of from West.

And Simit goes best with tea and cheese, especially triangle cheese, found in any market.
