This year, the 2023 Fine Homebuilding House will showcase a complete remodel and energy retrofit of an existing 1950s-era home, including a second-story addition, in Cornwall, N.Y. We’ll follow along as builder and homeowner Jon Beer completely transforms the house with proven, real-world building practices and budgets while minimizing the building’s environmental footprint.

In this video, Jon overviews the progress he and his team have made so far and describes the goals he has for the rest of the project. Jon plans to turn a small, dark home that has been abandoned for a decade into something spacious for his future family by adding two additions.

I hope that we see a progression in this project-much like “This Old House”. YouTube has become a welcome space for these projects, ie, note the popularity of French Chateaux renovations by people of various skill levels. You have a tremendous advantage with the resources you have available, I hope your YouTube success (and profits!) becomes as successful as the European tear downs/rehabs!

Considering you've never done any new construction, saying you've done more remodeling than new construction sounds kinda stupid, right?
