Does Super Mario Bros. Wonder Live Up to the Hype?

Super Mario Bros. Wonder consistently impressed me with it's creativity and charm, and I think it might just be my new favorite 2D Mario game. Playing through it was a lot of fun, and I'm so glad Mario is back to feeling fresh and inventive again.

My only minor gripe with this game is that all the characters play the same. I kind of wish they’d given them all unique abilities. But I guess I can understand why that wasn’t feasible.

This game is such a breath of fresh air. My only major complaint about the game is the bosses. I like bowser jr but him being literally all of the bosses except for the final one is really lame. I was so glad to find out the koopalings weren’t in this game because they’re the epitome of laziness and I am so sick of them. With the whole wonder effect thing there were so many cool opportunities for new unique bosses, so much potential. Every single part of this game is so creative and vibrant except the bosses. Worlds 3 and 5 don’t even have bosses and because of that the worlds feel unfinished. You don’t even fight Kamek. I do not understand why Kamek is even in this game. He doesn’t do anything. Why wasn’t he the bosses for the airships? The airships in this game are so cool, but the ending to them is always so lame. You walk a few inches and you hit a button and then the whole ship just blows up for some reason. I love this game but the bosses are so lazy that it does drag the game down a little bit

Just watched your mario kart wii video really good I had a lot of great memories in that game then I moved on to 7 and 8 deluxe but lately I have been playing mario kart wii also played mario wonder and 100% it. The game was really fun

The artstyle, background, and enemies are so beautiful and refreshing. My only critique is difficulty(wonder is really easy imo, at least compared to other 2d Mario games), but I get that this game is more dedicated to creativity and randomness. Had a great time playing this with friends, great video

At first I was like... meh, it's just another 2D Mario game... then the Music, the Wonder Flowers, the amazing graphics and variety of styles made me like... OK this is AWESOME! It's super creative!!! I need more!!!

Just finished 100% this gem. It's not all that difficult of a game, but sometimes you don't need to pull your hair out to enjoy a game. Level design is top notch, wonder flower mechanic is fun, awesome new enemies, and I really like the badge system. A must play for a Mario fan.

I just beat the game and it was fantastic. My only complaint is the bosses and Final boss is really easy and anticlimactic and it feels like it’s missing another phase

I cant believe this game is even better than what I expected, every level is creativity at its peak, cool fun mechanics, music, visual, everything is just top tier.
My only problem with this game is difficilty and I dont mean that the level itself are too easy, I mean things like the decacoins and having an extra slot for power ups, I dont like that you just need to touch the decacoin and that's it, even if you die if you got it once you dont need to worrie to get it again, because of that I died a lot of time just to get one, knowing that it doest matter, I remember how hard was trying to get all the stars coins in NSMB wii because you needed to get it and beat the level or being in a checkpoint to do not lose the star coin.
But beside that, Wonder is one of the best games of 2024.

I love the game, but my only complaint is when you are playing multiplayer the crown can get really annoying. Whoever has the crown the screen will follow so it’s not very fun for the other players because they can’t go anywhere they want to without the crowned player going there. It also gets confusing because it can be constantly switching between players. But I do really like the game.

my only gripe with the game is the reduction of so many items. They should've at least kept the ice flower in the game

Compared to legendary 2d playformers like donkey Kong country tf and the newer rayman games, this game felt super bare. Love the visuals and sound design though.
