Throughout Samson's life he was told that his enormous strength was God given and to maintain it he had to follow certain tenants of faith. He breaks those rules one by one; eating a honey comb from a lion's carcass and slaying a company of men armed only with a Donkey's jawbone. The only condition he didn't break was cutting his hair. His continued triste with Delilah was only his undoing because of his disregard and arrogance leading up to his journey to her tent.
In the end, Samson was blinded and chained to a column in the temple of his enemies. His last act was to ask God for his strength one last time. He pulled the column down, causing the collapse of the temple and murdering his captors.
Judges is a wild ass book, ya'll.

Her face in this painting is so sadistic 😳 as if she says "come on, who is the strongest one now?". The fact that Samson was blinded afterwards too says it all

This is weirdly one of my favorite stories in the Bible. The ending if I remember correctly is pretty epic, too - I think he calls on strength from God for one last time, then yanks some pillars down and collapses the whole building down on his enemies and himself. Pretty wild. At least, that's how I remembered it.

His parents insisted he didn’t marry her. He thought she was too beautiful to pass up. She asked him three times how to defeat him. Twice he lied, and twice she immediately used those wrong ways to try and kill him, then yelled at him for lying when they didn’t work. You’d think he’d recognize that he probably shouldn’t tell her the truth. But he did.

I always thought of Delilah as a cool, cold temptress, but this makes her look bat shit insane and terrifying! Love this interpretation

His look of desperation, anguish and surprise as he looks toward her . . . knowing the depth of the betrayal.

Her eyes and expression are powerful in this!

She pestered him twice before to know the answer and he lied to her, not knowing she betrayed him. She got so ticked off and Samson was so scared to lose her that he finally told the truth and this happened. Don’t ignore red flags like Samson. Seeing how he did, it’s possible he really did lie to her as a joke than for his safety because he was too confident, making Delilah lose her mind that he made her look bad.

Based on what's written in the Bible, Delilah was paid to make Samson reveal his secret. And since he loved her dearly, he told her. One night, she made him drink lots until he fell into a deep sleep. The men who bribed Delilah came and they were the ones who cut his hair (not Delilah herself).

Love the contrast between their expression. Hers is almost cartoonish wicked glee. She's absolutely ecstatic that he fell for it, and she's loving every second of it.

Meanwhile, surrounded by a storm of bodies and binds, his childish expression of shocked betrayal blazes like a beacon
