I used the Leatherman Free P4 for about 5 months and this is my review. Is it worth the price? Is it the best multi-tool Leatherman has ever produced, or just a gimmick? Check out this review if you're looking for that answer. Appreciate all who watch and comment. Sláinte!

A few months ago I went camping with some folks, one of whom had a P4. I stand by my original impression: It's a freaking toy. Most of the tools are Hilarious, at best.I was especially amused by the file and the "ruler". The awl is pretty funny, too.

Great review and insight, Leo! I recently got a Leatherman Blast for 30 bucks. Apparently it’s a discontinued model but goddamn I love it. Been carrying it for months now.

I'm glad I waiting, the longer I go the more I actually realize it may not be for me after all

I have a large collection of Leatherman Tools and I reach for this one quite often. It is a great fidget toy and I frequently use the extra thick outside accessible pry/flathead and phillips blades. Warncliff blade is pretty sweet as well.

Great no bs review. I like that you were straight to the point & that you used it for more than a day, unlike other reviews I've seen, before you made your judgements. For that price I'll keep my wave +. Got mine on ebay for $70 news in box. Bring cholo Leo out for a review bro!

The Leatherman Rebar has been my tool of choice for at least a year. I have a wave, etc, with the WEAK bits, and have had to purchase a few extra sets now (I know it's convenience tool, not a real tool, but 10-25in Lbs torque shouldn't twist a flat head bit like that). My Rebar does all I want and spits at .in Lbs. I cut lots of bailing wire, steel wire, all sorts of hard wire line and haven't needed replacement cutters yet in over 2 years of hard use in construction. I like my wave, oht, surge, charge tti, but my rebar stays on my belt as a work horse. The rest are in my "just in case" or "shtf" packs. Bought 2x rebar in case I need to return one for warranty.

Back in 2000 I bought a Leatherman WAVE (no plus), $80. Since then, it has only been off my hip when I fly. I use it every day. I have always been able to open it one-handed; especially the blade. Recently I purchased a Leatherman Surge. I like it, but not as much as my WAVE. It's bigger and bulkier and carrying on my hip feels like I'm carrying my Glock. My WAVE I hardly feel at all. Just sayin'. Keep up the good stuff, Leo, and Merry Christmas!

Thanks for being one of the only people to actually demonstrate opening all 4 of the main tools with one hand. I watch other reviews and they are either switching to the left hand to get to the scissors/serrated or there is some weird jumpcut/edits happening.

I really want to love this tool because outside/one handed access to the scissors seems great for fishing but it's hard to justify that price when I can just tether a nail clipper to my chest rig for a couple of dollars and carry one of my other Leathermans for the pliers.

Kind of a Leatherman junky though, so maybe I'll add another one to my growing collection just for fishing. Despite having a lot of models in my collection I find I really only use 2 of them, the skeletool for pocket carry and the surge in my pack or glovebox.

I was expecting to hear a Paddy telling me about mulitools.

All jokes aside (and I have Irish heritage) how do you loosend up a surge to open one handed? The only thing I like about the sog power grip was I could butterfly the pliers open. I've oiled my surge and I sit there opening and closing it when I'm bored but it still doesn't open easily one handed.

Good realistic review--thanks. I don't like the magnet idea too much--I work with metal a lot and would get tired of picking pieces of metal off of it every time I go to use it. It's also a little too pricey. I do like the tools on the outside but I already have 2 Supertool 300's and a Core so I'll just stick with them

Pretty good thorough review in my honest opinion Leo. I say how many more latest and greatest are going to be coming out from Leatherman. They’ll just keep adding #’s letters to something that’s already out there. Thanks for sharing Leo and ATB Mike from Chicago 👍👍🔥🙏
