I don‘t get how someone can complain about the CORRECT foot placement.
I am a competitive rower, it is like in a boat and that is what the manufacturer wanted to achieve.
A real con is that the clutch slipps if u start with a lot of force, not perfect for heavy intervals.
Compared to a C2 the strokes feel different because the water provides a bigger resistance from the beginning of a stroke, so the legs und lower back will get sore earlier.

Great review, thanks! I came to same conclusion regarding narrow foot placement. Bought a Waterrower A1 Studio model which is an aluminum monorail with foot placement similar to a C2 (I.e. lower and spread apart with the monorail running in between. The A1 Monitor/lack of programming wasn’t an issue for me as rowing is a cardio component of my workout and not my focal. Looks great, works great and slightly cheaper than the model you reviewed.

Nice overall review. Is there some commentary on long term durability and maintenance? Thanks!

maybe I missed it but how narrow is the Ergatta Lite foot placement? I did hear you mentioned the WaterRower was less than 2" (which seems pretty narrow). Thanks and great video!

All these fancy - shmancy rowers... C2 RowErg is the standard. Every other machine can be at least as good as C2 in the biomechanical aspect. WaterRower is aesthetic, has this water sound, is quiet (sometimes it is the most important feature) but everything else are flaws. Foot holders are too close to each other and too high in respect to the saddle level. It makes proper technique very difficult, especially for people, that want seriously loose some unnecessary weight. Rowing is a GREAT sport for this purpose. Much better than almost everything else. Running destroys joints, cycling just develops only legs, rowing engages almost 90% of muscles being very easy on joints and tendons.
If you want just to row or even more - to make rowing your primary sport and you are not a wealthy person - buy C2. No, I am not paid by this company, I just know some rowers and really, There is no better value for money as C2 (but The genuine one, not a Chinese counterfeit). This one is also biomechanically perfect for vast majority of people and just a panzer tank. Very, very few people can destroy C2 just by hard rowing.

I had heard you pour a bottle of rubbing alcohol in with the water to keep it clean. Not sure if that is safe for the plastic though.

My now wife's aunt sold me hers for $100 and i love it. Feet are a bit narrow but after using it more, i don't mind. Seat is great, i agree. I feel the handle is a bit thin and not a huge fan of the shape. Programs aren't really my thing so not a big deal but seeing the screen is very difficult (I'm visually impaired). I'd recommend it but that's also coming from getting it much cheaper!

narrow foot placement for dudes with 'equipment' = no go. Thanks for the call out; you just saved me money

Any reason why this has not caught on with the rowing clubs? Seems like this was meant to be an improvement over the C2 for more realism, but I've never seen a team club erg room or even CrossFit box have these in them. What gives?

Why is it made out of wood? Won’t that affect the longevity of the machine?

Can't listen to that voice for more than 10 seconds without getting VERY aggressive...
Sorry Lindsay, but don't forget to breath while speaking.
