Worth a mention is the Thick As A Brick 50th reissue, which allowed those of us who didn't buy the 40th version to acquire it for less than four million pounds.

All great stuff, but for me -- Number One has to be THE BEACH BOYS - '72. Saw them live back then and they were one of the best live acts out there. And when you line up SUNFLOWER, SURF'S UP, CARL AND THE PASSIONS, and HOLLAND, they were producing some of the most varied of their career, with all members of the group contributing along with Brian. Yes, a SCHOOL'S OUT release would have been fabulous.

Wouldn't mind The Monkees Headquarters cd reissue on Rhino. Also agree with your view on Hunky Dory being better than Ziggy...

I would agree that there were a few albums that should have seen a deluxe set. We definitely needed Exile On Main Street and School's Out but what about Honky Chateau, Transformer and Foxtrot? Here are my top deluxe sets for this year.

1 Holy Diver by Dio (A must have for any Dio fan. The first disc is worth the price of admission)
2 Moving Pictures by Rush (Solid version of the album but they should have given Signals a 40th set)
3 Revolver by The Beatles (Lavish set and fantastic sound from this set. One of the greatest albums ever sounds even more perfect)
4 Creatures Of The Night by Kiss (Insane amount of goodies in this set and the demos are not bad, some better than others)
5 The Miracle by Queen (Excavated Freddie Mercury songs from The Miracle sessions. Queen had about 30 to 40 songs from this recording that were shelved)

I need to get the Blondie set and need to listen to Holidays in Eden. Nice list Barry. Happy holidays to you and your family.

Appreciate the details in your reviews... certainly my top box sets of the year are what I refer to as my Vitamin B selections. Bowie, Beach Boys & Beatles. Happy Holidays.

The Rush - Moving Pictures 40th Anniversary is great, if only for the superb complete live concert from Toronto's 81 gigs on 4 x LP. What the live album Exit Stage Left should have been. Blows it out of the water.

I am eagerly awaiting the overdue 40th anniversary box set of Jethro Tull’s Broadsword & the. Beast . The last I heard, it might be coming out in the Spring .

Little Feat's 'Waiting for Columbus', for sure. I recently played the original two-disc version that is in the Warner Bros. years box set, and my fave tracks include some of the extras, including live 'Day at the Dog Races', so the super-deluxe set will be ordered today (it had slipped my mind). I have yet to crack open my Tears for Fears super-deluxe 'Songs From the Big Chair' and 'Sowing the Seeds of Love' despite having them for over a year. Hopefully the coming hols will see some listening sessions happening within this house.

Wilco's was a great boxset. I think my favorite this year was the big Blondie boxset.

I've got the run of those Beach Boy albums plus the Good Vibrations box on cd and there are a lot of those deep cuts throughout. I Just Wasn't Made for These Times was a great Brian lp that may be an answer album to that time period.

I have just one box set on my wishlist for Christmas: Sentenced's The Urn - Complete Studio Recordings. 13 LP's of great Finnish metal in one box set.
